ETS in Amsterdam offers STEM-specific extracurricular activities, which may include:
- A visit to Microbia to understand the human microbiome and its relationship to health and disease
- A visit to the Waternoods museum to explore the risks of water and climate change and the innovative engineering used in water management
- A guided tour of the Schoonschip neighborhood in Amsterdam, a sustainable floating residential area in Noord Holland
- A tour of Hortus Botanicus in Amsterdam to explore plant biology, biodiversity, and the role of plants in environmental sustainability
- Trips to Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Antwerp, or Delft
Academic Projects
For-credit directed independent research is for qualified students who have demonstrated academic rigor and curiosity toward a particular research topic. Independent research topics will be approved by 爱游戏下载 Amsterdam Academic staff and must reflect a topic that is relevant to Amsterdam or The Netherlands. To be accepted into this course, students must submit a structured proposal with topic of exploration, significance of research topic as it relates to The Netherlands, methodology, a literature review, and a schedule of research milestones. Upon research completion, students will present their findings to a panel of academics.

Housing
While housing is limited in Amsterdam, 爱游戏下载 Amsterdam offers a variety of housing options throughout the city. All housing is located within a 45-minute commute of 爱游戏下载 Amsterdam and the city center by public transport or bicycle.鈥
Standard Housing: Includes a private room in a residence hall.
- Residence Halls: West of the city center, in what was once a shipyard district and is now a lively artistic hub right next to the metro.鈥疭tudents live in single rooms with en-suite bathrooms and access to fully equipped shared kitchens and laundry facilities. Additional amenities include free WiFi, gym access, laundry services, bed linens, towels, and a TV.鈥
Select Housing: Includes a room in a residence hall with a private kitchen.
- Students live in single rooms with en-suite bathrooms and access to fully equipped private or shared kitchens and laundry facilities. These rooms offer added amenities and are more spacious than Standard rooms. Commute time to the office varies:

Meals
Residence Halls: No meals are included for residence hall residents.
Transportation
Students are responsible for their own travel costs in and around Amsterdam. The best way to travel around the city is by bike. Whatever the weather, the Dutch will steadfastly cycle to work, school, and back home 鈥 and you can, too! 爱游戏下载 staff will fill you in on all your options for getting a bike once you arrive onsite.
Academics
The Engineering, Technology, and Sciences (ETS) Study Abroad Program in Amsterdam offers STEM students a unique opportunity to gain international experience while remaining on track in their academic fields. Through collaboration with 爱游戏下载 Amsterdam and Arizona State University (ASU), participants can choose from a broad portfolio of courses in engineering, technology, and sciences, including online options and lab-based classes. This program stands out for its integration of discipline-specific coursework with culturally immersive extracurricular activities. Students are required to enroll in at least one STEM-related course, complemented by electives that highlight Amsterdam鈥檚 unique cultural and scientific landscape.
