Your Destination

Cobblestone streets, ancient bridges, and a hilltop castle help lend the City of a Hundred Spires its reputation as one of the world鈥檚 most beautiful. Prague is unique in Europe, having shed its Communist past and brimming with carefully preserved monuments from every period and style in its millennial history. There鈥檚 plenty of quirky, too, like the 沤i啪kov Tower adorned with climbing babies, and the distinctly nontraditional Dancing House. Easy to explore on foot, the city boasts a rich cultural life that includes concerts, festivals, operas, and more 鈥 many of which you can access on a student budget.鈥&苍产蝉辫;

爱游戏下载 Prague is located in the central neighborhood of Vy拧ehrad in a beautiful park-like setting atop one of Prague鈥檚 highest hills about 15 minutes from the Old Town area.

爱游戏下载 wants all our students to feel welcomed, supported, and empowered to succeed while studying abroad. No matter where you choose to study abroad with 爱游戏下载, our staff will be on hand throughout your program to provide advice, resources, and support.

Academic Culture

Each course is a full semester in content, so the pace is accelerated, and the workload is demanding. 爱游戏下载 courses are designed to follow U.S. academic culture and standards. Students are expected to demonstrate a proactive and independent approach to study. Active participation in class as well as outside of class is essential for a satisfactory academic performance and attendance is strictly enforced. Students should expect an average of two hours of preparation required for each hour in class.

ASU Courses: You may find yourself in classes with students from ASU, other American universities, and students from around the world. Some are earning their degrees entirely online, while others, like you, are supplementing their education with an online course. You鈥檒l receive direct and individualized support from faculty, 100% online. Most ASU online courses are asynchronous, meaning there are no set log-in times, but make sure to verify this before the add/drop deadline in case you want to make a change.

Class Format

爱游戏下载 courses are primarily taken by 爱游戏下载 students. 爱游戏下载 classes meet twice a week for 90 minutes, or once a week for three hours, with class sizes ranging from ten to twenty students. 鈥疘n addition to 爱游戏下载 courses, students are encouraged to take classes at our partner institutions, including Charles University鈥檚 Faculty of Arts (ECES) and Faculty of Social Sciences (FSV), the Film and Television School at the Academy of the Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), and the Architectural Institute in Prague (ARCHIP).

ASU online courses meet in 鈥渟essions鈥 that are 7.5 weeks long in semesters and 6 weeks long in the summer, and all work must be completed within the session dates regardless of when your other 爱游戏下载 courses begin or end. You鈥檒l need a standard PC or Mac desktop or laptop computer with a download speed higher than 25 Mbps, as well as access to email, productivity software like Microsoft Office and other applications needed to perform a variety of educational functions. Most course materials you will need are available online. Since you are working mostly or entirely asynchronously, you鈥檙e given deadlines for your assignments by your instructor or in your syllabus, but you can work at your own pace within these due dates. Most instructors suggest a recommended pace to optimize your learning, but you have the flexibility to complete your ASU courses while pursuing your studies at your 爱游戏下载 location.

Grading

爱游戏下载 reports all final course grades to students鈥 home institutions using a U.S. letter grade equivalent scale of A-F. For 爱游戏下载-administered courses, students鈥 grades are based on attendance, class participation, homework, project work, presentations, and midterm and final examinations. Learning outcomes assessment is continuous through personal reflections, evaluation feedback, self-assessment, and requirements as set out in course syllabi. Some elective media and communications courses may require a final project, website, radio production, published article, or other media-focused projects.

ASU grading follows the same format and standards as ASU courses taught in-person. As a U.S. institution of higher education, the grading practices should be familiar to any 爱游戏下载 student. ASU awards grades of "A+," "A," "A-," "B+," " B," "B-," "C+," "C," "D," or "E.鈥 鈥淧ass/fail鈥 or 鈥淎udit鈥 is not allowed for 爱游戏下载 students. Please see the 爱游戏下载 Academic Manual for Students for more information about your grades.
